Ryan E. Looper, Ph.D. - Bio

Short Biography
Ryan was born in Banbury, England. After spending his formative years overseas he returned to the United States to attend Western Washington University. There he received a B.S. degree in Chemistry (1998) and an M.S. degree (1999) under the guidance of Prof. Jim Vyvyan. He then entered the Ph.D. program at Colorado State University where he earned his Ph.D. degree in 2004 working with Prof. Robert M. Williams. After completing his Ph.D., Ryan moved to Harvard University to conduct post-doctoral studies with Prof. Stuart Schreiber. In 2007, Ryan joined the faculty at the University of Utah to begin his independent career. He has developed an integrated research program at the interface of natural product synthesis, chemical biology and medicinal chemistry. In 2009, he was awarded a Henry Eyring Assistant Professorship to continue his research pursuits.
